'London baby!' If you are a fan of my favorite show 'Friends', then you will definitely recognize this Joey-line. And I get it, because Joey loves food and this city is all about food! From street food to high-end restaurants, the choices are endless. In addition to all that delicious food, we also did some sightseeing and went to a concert of The Weeknd!

Highlightsβ‘οΈ
- Sights; the first day we went full in tourist mode and visited Big Ben, London Bridge, Buckingham Palace, London Eye, The Green Park and West Minister Abbey. These sights are all in walking distance and we did about 25,000 steps! πβοΈ
- Chinatown: Chinatown in London is not just a street with some Chinese restaurants. This district, decorated with beautiful Chinese lanterns, is most alive at night. I would go here for dessert! Bubble tea, matcha ice cream or pattisserie; you can get anything here. π₯‘
- Shoreditch & Spitalfields neighborhoods; I have been to London many times, but never in these areas. I would put these on the must see list. They are within walking distance of each other, so easy to combine. Graffiti, street food, vintage shops, boutiques and food halls. I loved it here. If you are a football fan, stop by Classic Football Shirts London. They sell original retro shirts from all over the world. ποΈ

Location and transportation π
Airport transport π
'Your flight time is 35 minutes'. Wow, that was a moment of realization how close it is from the Netherlands.
I recommend flying to London City (or come by train if you can!). London City is very small and, as the name suggests, is located in the middle of the city. From the airport, take the tube to the center. London Heathrow is also doable, but much bigger, so everything takes longer. You can also take the tube into the city from London Heathrow. This takes about an hour.
Location ποΈ
Hotels in London are expensive. Oh Lord! Where I normally book at least a 3-star hotel, that turned into mission impossible this time. That's why I chose this Airbnb. We had to report in a restaurant, after which we had to go up a stairs through the restaurant. We ended up in a room of 5m2. I looked at my boyfriend and we both started laughing. It really felt like we were backpacking again. The location (Soho) was great, the room was clean and there was AC. Cons; noisy, small and you can't leave your luggage after check-out. We ended up dropping our luggage here, which was fine, but a little bit of a hassle.
Soho was chill for this trip because we wanted to see the sights. Everything is within walking distance from this area. Next time I will not take a hotel in the center. A neighborhood such as Spitalfields is lively and also easily accessible by public transport. Maybe you can find a decent hotel there for a good price.
Transport π
The metro (or the tube) is very easy to use. Fortunately, you no longer need an 'Oyster card' (transport pass). Just like in Amsterdam, you can check in with your bank card/phone/smartwatch. I always consult Google Maps for the route. You will immediately see which line, in which direction you need to have it.

When food = life π₯
The title gave it away, but this is the city for the foodies. I have never seen so many food halls, food trucks, trendy eateries and restaurants in one city. I can only eat so much in a weekend, but I also got some tips from locals. Here is the combination of our tips;
Brunch π₯
Dinner π
- Benihana
- Rock and Soile plaice
- Homeslice Neal's Yard

Good to know ππ½βοΈ
π
The United Kingdom is part of Europe and you will need your passport to travel to this country
π΄
The currency is the British pound. There is no need to go to an ATM, since you can pay by card everywhere
π°
Pocket money; about 500 euros for 3 days (2 persons, excl. flights and stay
βοΈ
The best time to travel is from April to October, of which I find the months of July and August just a bit too hot for a city trip where you have to walk a lot
π©π³
'Service charge' is mostly included in the bill
π¦
The tap water is safe to drink, but it may contain chlorine, which makes it not very tasty
π±
The network is bad. I had no internet on my phone for about 50% of the time
π¦
Traffic is on the left here. So be careful when crossing and don't be surprised if people walk on the left
π
Fun fact; some bus shelters are placed the other way around, in other words, when it has rained and a car drives through a puddle, you will stay dry π
Oh London, it was fantastic!! I would recommend it to anyone and I will definitely be back soon!♥οΈ
