Together with my girlfriends I decided to go away for a weekend. A mom trip without kids! We chose to go to Prague; a historic city that you can easily see on foot. It was a very relaxed trip; a drink on a terrace, doing some sightseeing, and then another drink or to a Jazz club in the evening. Very relaxing - just what these moms needed.

Highlightsβ‘οΈ
- The old center of Prague is beautiful and when we were there (September) it was also not that crowded. Because the center is small, you can easily do everything on foot. For example, you can walk along the Old Town Square and then back to the Charles Bridge
- The Charles Bridge is a bridge over the Vltava River and one of the most visited sights in Prague. The bridge is decorated with statues and locks and offers a spectacular view of the city
- Waldstein garden is a large garden at the Wallenstein palace, where you can walk through or sit for a while. Concerts and theater performances are also given here in summer
- In the Clementinum you will find an old library, just like you would see in a fairy tale. If you buy a ticket, you will go with a tour guide who will explain the history to you. At the end of the tour you can go to the rooftop of the building, where you have a beautiful view over Prague
- The Lennon Wall is a wall of graffiti inspired by John Lennon and the lyrics of The Beatles. It is the perfect spot to take a picture!

Location and transportation π
We flew with Easyjet for 75 euros return to Prague from Amsterdam. This flight took an hour and a half, and we only brought a backpack for a city trip of 3 days. Arriving at Prague airport, we took the bus (2 euros) to the center. You can also take an Uber or a Bolt (about 15 euros). When you arrive, check Google Maps for the best way to travel to your accommodation.
We chose an accommodation in the Old City Center. Since hotel prices are relatively low in Prague (this was in the month of September), I opted for a 4-star hotel with breakfast. It was a fine hotel, but certainly not a 4 star and therefore not worth mentioning in my opinion.
Prague is a wonderful city because you can explore everything on foot. I therefore do not advise you to buy a multi-day ticket for public transport if you are already in a central location. Of course, you will take public transport once, but then buy a separate ticket at a ticket machine. Uber and Bolt are also doable. A 10-minute ride only cost us 5 euros.
When food = life π₯
Yes! My ultimate tip in Prague is Manifesto Market Andel. This is the place to be. Super nice outdoor food hall, with a choice of different cuisines. They have music nights, pool parties and themed weeks. We came there to eat something, but then had a cup of coffee and stayed for cocktails :). When the waitress also arrived with blankets, I was already completely sold. Cocktail, music, blanket – there is a chill vibe here. It is also recommended to make a reservation. We went in September and there was plenty of room, but I can imagine it is much busier in the summer.
Okay, tip number 2: eat a Trdelnik! You can buy this ice cream in a super tasty cone on every corner of the street. It doesn't seem to originate in the Czech Republic, but that doesn't matter – you want to eat this. Thank me later ;).
Just good food π

Prague also has plenty of nice cocktail bars where you can have a drink. We also noticed that there are many Jazz clubs. Nice we thought, but when we entered, everyone was sitting very quietly at a table listening to the music. Chatting was a no go. Totally fine of course, but it wasn't for us.

Pocket money: we spent 150 euros pp in 3 days (excl. flight and hotel)

You pay in Prague with the Czech crown. Read in this blog which app is useful for converting the currency

The best travel time is from May to October, but it is a lot busier in July and August because of the summer holidays

With a Dutch passport you do not need a visa and you can travel to the Czech Republic with your passport or ID

For a city trip I recommend 2-3 days

You pay about 1.63 euros for a bottle of beer. This makes Prague the cheapest capital in Europe to drink a beer!

Prague is a wonderful city to stroll through. The historic center in combination with the modern restaurants provide a nice mix of old and new. Will I ever visit Prague again? Probably not. It's so small that once is enough for me. Nevertheless, I would absolutely recommend this city to you!
Sbohem,
